Week ending 30.9.16
Date: 2nd Oct 2016 @ 8:05pm
This week was another amazing week in class 1. On Thursday we joined the rest of the school to celebrate European day of Languages. The reception children were super brave jojning the older children to compete in some sports activities. Despite some initial nerves, the children all tried extremely hard. Check out the photos in the EDL sports afternoon blog. I thought the children did a fantastic job performing their castanet song and speaking in Spanish in front of such a large audience of friends and family.
This week in maths, Year 1 continued to work on learning their numbers to 100. They have loved learning the counting to 100 song. Click the link to see the video we have used https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAxmBJ5ufL8 . The children have been working on finding 1 more and 1 less than a number. We have extended this learning by solving problems involving finding more or less. The reception children have been learning to complete and create repeating patterns. There is a great display in the classroom of all their hard work. Feel free to pop in and take a look. In English, the children have begun changing our 'Charlie the Chicken' story into their own. Over the next week we will be writing our own versions and creating our own story books. We are very excited to become realy life authors!
We didn't celebrate any particular children this week but I would like to say a huge well done to all of the Year 1 children who have been working extremely hard and trying their best in all lessons!
See you tomorrow,
Miss Keegan
